There is a place that lies behind
the twist in the road
with a green and soft pasture.
The birds, they sing, a lullaby
that makes your heart
beat faster.
The trees, they sway, a dance
so sweet, of love and grace
and laughter.
The creek, it bends, so slightly
and flows over and through rocks
well mastered.
The air, it smells of sweet relief
and wraps you in calm
soothing rapture.
My home will always
wait for me now and
forever after.

Off to Edisto
Me: Hello?
You: Hey, it's me, Summer-time.
Me: Oh, hellooooo old friend! How have you been? You've been gone so terribly long and things have been so dark and grey. This winter I almost lost my marbles because I thought you would never return.
You: You did lose your marbles. I'm a season not a person.
Me: Well, to me you are a magical, mystical lovely existence.
You: Well I may be special but I'm still just a season.
Me: But you're my favorite one. I wait all year just for you.
You: Alright well I'm here now. You can relax and go on about things.
Me: Thank the lawd! I'm off to Edisto...

What That Kid Looks Like
Try, if you will, to imagine what a 6 year old boy who just won a life-size Darth Vader cut-out as a reading prize from his school, might look like. How puffed up might his little chest be? How cool does he think he is? He had to hire a couple of buddies to help him carry the huge box out of school and he's the envy of every kid he passed. He's the only person in our family to ever win anything. Here's what that kid looks like.

Go Magenta Go
Our son is a reader. He loves to read. He reads all day. He reads all night. I'm so proud of him that he likes to read. I think he gets it from his Uncle Scott. But he's a speed reader. Since last Thursday, he's read 4 chapter books. You have to understand how happy this makes Daddy and I when we can barely get through the newspaper.
We have high hopes for him that this interest in reading will continue. It's no secret that Daddy and I aren't the sharpest crayons in the box. But maybe Big will be! Maybe he'll be the Super Sharp Magenta Crayon his whole life long!
